Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , visited India from 28 May to 1 June 2025 . During his stay, he held discussions with PM Modi and reaffirmed ADB’s support for India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 .

The bank announced a $10 billion fund for urban infrastructure development, including metro expansions and regional rapid transit systems. Additionally, ADB sanctioned a $4.85 billion loan for green projects in Tripura and withdrew a $434 million loan for a solar power plant in Assam.

🐦 Two New Ramsar Sites Declared in Rajasthan

India added two new Ramsar Sites in Rajasthan — Keich and Menar Wetlands . With this, India now has 91 Ramsar Sites , leading Asia and ranking third globally behind the UK (175) and Mexico (142).

Menar Wetland, known as the “Bird Village” , is a popular destination for migratory birds. Rajasthan now has four Ramsar Sites, including Sambar Salt Lake and Keoladeo National Park.
